FSC® Certified Teak Plantation
"Who are we?"
"Panama Teak is a registered brand dedicated to the marketing and sale of forest products made from FSC® certified tectona grandis teak, which is naturally grown and commercially cultivated in the Republic of Panama."
Our
History
How was it created?
It was created as a result of a focus group conducted in Europe, where the final outcome was that:
- Panamá no es reconocida como productor de teca
- In the consumer's mind, the name Panama is associated with Panama Papers, corruption, money laundering, and tax evasion.
- According to ITTO reports, Panama has the lowest prices in the region, even though we pass all quality tests and successfully export to Vietnam and Europe, where the world's most demanding customers are located.
Our brand represents a strategic alliance with various forest producers in Panama who share our values and commitment to sustainability. Together, we strive to surpass the legal timber trade regulations established by Panamanian legislation, demonstrating our leadership and dedication to responsible and ethical practices.
We commit to cultivating teak responsibly, respecting ecological balance, and protecting the biodiversity of our forests. Our associated producers, who share our values, adhere to all regulations for legal timber trade, even surpassing the laws established in Panama.
Through FSC® certification, we demonstrate our commitment to sustainable forest management and the conservation of natural resources. We promote responsible practices that ensure the renewability of teak and the well-being of local communities, respecting workers' rights and fostering economic and social development.
We aspire to contribute to the sustainable economic growth of Panama, creating jobs and opportunities for local communities. By promoting FSC® certified teak, we aim to raise the standards of the forestry industry, driving positive change in how forest resources are managed and utilized in our country.
At Panama Teak, our mission goes beyond product marketing. We strive to be a change agent in the forestry industry, educating and raising awareness about the importance of sustainable forest management and responsible wood consumption.
In summary, our mission at Panama Teak is to lead the marketing of FSC® certified teak from Panama, promoting sustainability, quality, and responsibility in our supply chain. We work in collaboration with our associated producers and customers to build a future where Panamanian teak is recognized and valued for its sustainable origin and positive contribution to the environment and communities.
Vision
To become the leading brand in the marketing and sale of 100% FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certified Panamanian teak forest products. To be recognized as a benchmark in the production and marketing of certified teak, grown sustainably and in harmony with the environment.
Mission
Our mission is to build a strong and reliable image for Panamanian teak, positioning it as a premium product in the international market. We aim to establish long-lasting relationships with our customers by providing them with products of the highest quality, durability, and aesthetic beauty, backed by an ethical and transparent supply chain.
Important Objectives
Make Panama known as a certified teak producer for export in international markets, high-quality genetic material, and a new high-performance and precision processing plant, and finally, demonstrate to the world the capability of Panamanian companies to export.
Promote the available teak of different ages, qualities, and presentations to multiple consumer markets for teak, such as the Middle East, Russia, Pakistan, the United States, England, Australia, and Arab countries.
Leverage Panama's strategic location for international promotion. Highlight the companies and commercial opportunities it offers. Foster interest in the global market and reap long-term benefits.
Directly market certified Panamanian teak to niche markets.
The purpose of Panama Teak
It aims to help us market our FSC® certified teak and create the image of teak in Panama, where we eventually hope it will result in higher prices. The creation of the brand marked a significant step in this direction, as we brought together forest producers in Panama with certified teak production that meets all legal timber trade regulations, which go well beyond Panamanian legislation.
GOALS
Goals to achieve
Participating in trade fairs and thematic exhibitions related to forestry, projects, and strategically selected markets for marketing. In the case of ET, we will participate in two fairs in Europe to promote Panama Teak as a source of certified teak and provide support to our three distributors with presentations and assistance.
Green marketing, e-commerce, and multichannel interaction are essential to stay current and capitalize on business opportunities in the sustainable sector. By staying informed about regulations, trends, and opportunities, marketing professionals can develop more effective and ethical strategies, contributing to the sustainable growth of their companies and society as a whole.
Raising awareness in our embassies in Europe is crucial. We are the only ones exporting to Europe, and this needs to be promoted because common people often confuse the tropics, thinking that all tropical countries are the same. This misconception does not benefit Panama because many people, including many Panamanians, are not aware that all our teak is planted.
Strengthening, protecting, and developing the governance of the PANAMA TEAK® brand, with the demand for certified high-quality products to maintain the country's image and safeguard the image of our investors.
Strengthening and developing the country brand to include more companies benefiting from participation in national and international events. Establishing a schedule for Panamá Teak® members to participate in other fairs to promote the sector and their work.
